On April 7, Professor Jennifer Koh participated in a panel entitled “Responses to Gender-Based Violence in the Trump Era,” which took place in connection with a conference on the Politicization of Safety sponsored by the UCI Initiative to End Family Violence. Her comments focused on the impact of current immigration enforcement policies on domestic violence in immigrant communities.
Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Susan Keller has written an opinion piece that addresses the assumption that gender is binary, an assumption that lies behind some of the challenges to the Obama Administration guidelines on access to public restrooms. Dean Keller’s article confronts the notion of a binary categorization system and suggests the alternative of offering facilities that are not sex-segregated, urging that this would provide both obvious and subtle benefits. “What If We All Used The Same Bathroom?” was published in the Boston Globe’s September 6 issue.
Professor Eunice Park’s article, “Equitable, Gender-Neutral Writing Means More Effective Advocacy,” has been published in California Lawyer‘s August issue. Professor Park is a regular contributor to the magazine’s Legal-Ease column.
